Dr. Robert Bright Mawuko Sogbadji obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc.) in Physics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2005 and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Ghana in 2008. He currently holds a Doctorate degree (PhD) in Nuclear Physics from the Université de Paris-Sud XI awarded him in 2012.
He has substantial knowledge and experience in Energy dynamics in Ghana and the West African region. He is the Policy Analyst on Renewable Energy, Nuclear Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation and at the Ministry of Energy, Ghana. He also a Senior lecturer at the School of Nuclear Allied Science of the University of Ghana, and Principal Research Scientist for the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission since 2012 and 2009 respectively. Dr. Sogbadji is a member of the Ghana Nuclear Society and Research Scientist Association of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He also as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
He has attended and represented the country on numerous training courses, workshops, and conferences as well as participated in negotiations on Energy, internationally and locally with a focus ranging from policy action, planning, implementation, and evaluation among others. He co-chaired the committee for drafting the Ghana Energy policy amongst other national documents. He facilitated the partnership with Development Partners to promote industrial energy efficiency in Ghana.
Dr. Sogbadji is a proficient author as well, with over 30 quality peer reviewed research publications in various scientific journals and conference papers.
He currently holds the position as the Deputy Director, Renewable Energy and Green Transition (Nuclear and Emerging Green Transition) and the Coordinator, Ghana Nuclear Power Programme. He serves on the Board of Nuclear Power Ghana Ltd as well as a Board member of the African Energy Technology Centre. He was recently appointed to the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Net-Zero Carbon Emission Project by KNUST and Yinson West Africa.
He co-coordinated the drafting of the 2022-2070 National Energy Transition Framework and 2023 National Energy Policy. He is currently the Ag. Coordinator for the National Energy Transition programme at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
