2022 VRA Sustainability Report 1024 574 Nuclear Power Ghana

In recent times, amidst the post COVID 19 economic challenges across the world, energy sustainability has become prominent especially as the worldʼs focus has sniffed towards climate change.

In Ghana, the Volta River Authority (VRA) is leading the charge towards business and environmental sustainability, by advocating for reliable, cleaner, efficient, affordable, and sustainable energy, which is essential for modern and digital economies that are sensitive to the environment.

As part of efforts towards ensuring environmentally sustainable operations, the Authority is diversifying its power generation portfolio to take advantage of available and sustainable sources of energy, especially in the renewable energy space, specifically through hydro and solar power generation.

The changing landscape of power generation and VRA’s commitment to the fight against climate change in line with the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), makes the Authority a leader in ensuring sustainable development on the African continent.
