Nuclear Power Ghana (NPG, in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will host a National Workshop on Safety Culture Assessment from 4-8th May 2026 in Accra, Ghana.

As part of major activities to be carried out in Ghana’s Phase Two nuclear power programme this workshop is being organized with the aims to strengthen organisational capacity for conducting comprehensive Safety Culture Assessments in line with international and regulatory requirements to ensure the long-term success of the project. A key focus will be on interview techniques, performing observations, document reviews, facilitating focus groups, and analysing survey data.

This workshop builds on a previous initiative aimed at strengthening safety culture within Ghana’s nuclear program. Its primary objective is to develop in-house expertise for conducting self-assessments of organizational safety culture, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with international best practices.

The five-day workshop, facilitated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), offers an engaging and insightful experience designed to strengthen organizational safety culture. Participants will benefit from a dynamic blend of technical lectures, practical exercises, group activities, collaborative sessions, and case studies. Guided by expert facilitators, the program focuses on assessing safety culture through the application of survey tools and analytical methods, ensuring a comprehensive and impactful learning journey.

The workshop seeks to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of nuclear safety culture assessment and the development of methods, tools and guidance to conduct a safety culture assessment
